Well, I think a vet will help you more than we....

This happened to us with Antigone, she was driving us mad with her constant calling and of course we could not let her out! so the vet agreed to desex her even though she was on heat, most won´t do it because there is a risk of bleeding from the surgery! Unfortunately when she came home after her operation she was still calling!!! I rang the vets and they said it can take a while for the hormones to wear off. I am not sure how long they are in season for, as Antigone only called for about a day once she recovered from surgery. Thank goodness there were no complications, we really didn´t want to risk her getting pregnant. If I ever get another female kitten I will make sure she is desexed before she comes on heat!

Good luck with it all.

Hey there, like Pipster says, you can have a cat spayed while she is in heat - Sophie was in heat when she had hers. I think it was more of a problem in the past - but these days they seem to be better at controlling complications. A female cats heat can last for a few days or as many as 16-18. She can cycle in and out of heat relatively frequently if there´s an intact male cat anywhere nearby. If she´s driving you nuts, maybe call your vet and see what they say.

I have two cats who have not been spayed----they go into heat at pretty much the same time. yes, the caterwauling can be irritating at times, but we´ve learned to live with it since we are the ones who have procrastinated and not taken them to the vet to get spayed. I´ve noticed that with each of them, the length of time they are actually in heat seems to have diminished---whereas it seemed like two weeks of yelling and screaming, it now only appears they are in heat about 3 to 4 days. good luck to you Cindy!

If it drives you too crazy, call the vet as suggested. If you choose to wait until she is out of heat, I would suggest investing in a good set of ear plugs! Oh, and don´t be surprise if her vocals change during, or after, heat. I had a cat who went from having a sweet, gentle meow to a deep, throaty, sexy sounding meow.

When I used to breed Abyssinians and my ladies came on heat but I didn´t want to have them mated at that particular time, I used to use what we called a Teaser Tom who would "satisfy" the ladies and they would then come out of heat and not fall pregnant either. All the Teaser Tom was was a tom that had been given a vascetomy as opposed to being fully neutered. If you know anybody in your area who has one maybe you could ask them to help with your problem.

Capslink, whatever you do, don´t tell my Mugger that it was possible for him to be vasectomized only instead of fully neutered. He will make my life a living hell.

Also, check with the vet. He may be able to give Skye a hormone shot to bring her out of heat.

my Cat is a persian cat , hes supposed to be very quiet and clamed...but hes completely the opposite. He runs all over the place and plays all the time. I like that but the part i dislike is that when he plays he bites really hard and never lets people to pat him. he doesnt liek to be brushed, get his nails cut or get carrried. He bites reall hard.. and i dont know why he does this.....me and my boyfriend and eerybody who get on his way hes some bruises! i know hes not a mad cat hes just playing...what can i do to make him not be so rude to others?

invest in come good ear plugs haha... One thing I can´t stand is having to hear a female kittie in heat.. UGHHHHHH When I had my female before she was spayed the worse thing we could do was even bother with her! You even looked at her and she would start up! I know it seems mean but try and leave her alone as much as you can if she is like that because the smallest thing will get her going.

Actually, even a fully neutered male may be able to do the job. I have a neutered Ginger who still likes to have a go at anything with four legs including my spayed females!!!!!

Hey muddy lol female cats are awesome lol
Umm the vet clinic i work at can give cats a needle to get them off heat but it does take two days to become effective and isnt 100% effective...but its worth a shot if shes driving u bonkers lol. Like other people are saying u can get her spayed whilst shes on heat but i know at my vet it does cost a bit extra. I think the best thing u can do is ring up ur vet clinic and ask for some advice and they can give u options and prices
Goodluck
