Is your kitta a southpaw? Or Adroit?

I read somewhere decades ago about a study about the left and right hemispheres of kittas. Maybe it was in the Smithsonian. Maybe Cat Fancy.

In this study it was noted that kittas prefer one paw over another. And for me, thus far, it´s been true. (though I don´t know about Piper because she won´t play long enough to show a preference.

This then, can lead to insights - a right-pawed kittas would be more rational (of course, what is rational to a cat....) while your left pawed kittas were dreamers.

Squeak was left pawed, and she was so imaginative, that when she played, you could believed that the (toy) mousie she was playing with was real and alive.

So - are your kittas Sinister or Adroit? Cak-handed or Right handed? Southpaw or Northpaw? And can you learn anything about their personality by knowing that?

I am pretty sure all my cats are right pawed, but they have compeltely different personalities. Analyze that.

Would that mean the left-pawed kittas would be in their right minds....I need to go for some analysis.

I have not noticed. I didn´t realize "paw preference" existed. I will have to go home and watch my kitties!

Matilda has little need for paw adroitness - she can catch a fish treat tossed from 20 paces in her mouth.

Both my boys are left pawed and my girl Minoosh is right pawed.

i´ve never noticed but now I´m going to be studying them closely to find out

I think Petabai was originally a right pawed cat because she often starts off trying to play or dig in the litter tray with her right arm even though it isn´t there anymore. She is a really great left pawer now!

Mugger seems to be ambidextrous, and hasn´t shown preference for one paw over another - he just uses whichever one is closest to what he wants. But that could just be natural cat laziness in motion!

tegan is All-pawed...a front paw that´s closest will do to get something and even rolling on her back and going for things with the back paws works lol. Might have to watch her more closely as she matures.
