I don´t know if that thread is posted before, but here´s what happened to a friend some weeks ago. She found a little male kitten hiding under a car. It was a very week, wounded one and seemed scared to death. She took it to her place, she tried to feed it but it refused to eat. It was hiding most of the time at different places in the house, and it had a trouble moving.

So she took the kitten to the vet who said that the kitten wasn´t sick, but suffered from shock from a very nasty rape by a male cat. And he said that it wasn´t raped once, but several times, and it was also brutalized.He gave the proper physical treatment to the kitten, but unfortunately some days ago the kitten died for unknown reason (perhaps from weekness, as it was leaving most of its food).

I know that male cats often do that, and many cats are raped for territory reasons. But such a brutal attack to a little one? It sounds cruel... And apart from this,I thought that maybe cats are stronger, providing that rape is perhaps a common thing for them.

I think this is called dominance behaviour. This means that if the male is not neutered, it helps him alot if he becomes neutered. Don´t forget that animals can ´rape´ both men and women cats when they are on heat, its their instinct! Although this is a rare case, but I am sure that this cat needs to be neutered.

Rape????? It seems almost impossible..I thought that by being dominant they will attack, spray, fight but not for one moment did I ever think that a cat would rape another....surly not....

GOOD GRIEF!!!!....I have never heard of such a thing......As Michele says, dominance in behaviors she mentioned, but never such an act of brutality would ever come into my mind about cats....humans, yes, but cats???!!!!.....never.....how awful to have to say in this regard: I guess I learn something new everyday.......!

How I wish such did not exist but it reminds me that when you see a cat who is older, acting opposite of what you would like to see in a well rounded pet, one never knows what the poor animal has experienced which imprinted the animal for life.

All the more reason I am so grateful for the wonderful people of the world who will toterate and love those animals as they are, and not reject them for what they wish they could be.

I never heard of any intentional rape of cats either, let alone homosexual ones. I thought only an uncivilized specie like some of the demented humans are capable of doing such barbaric thing. I really hope that poor little soul can leave all the terrible thing that happened to him behind over the bridge and will be showered with bliss from now on...

I think we should be careful of the terms we use on this site. The word rape implies human motivations to cat behaviour. Someone who commits rape is psychologically ill and uses rape deliberately as a weapon to relieve feelings of worthlessness through power and control. Cats that use sexual aggression to maintain their territories are not mentally ill. They are generally demonstrating territorial or dominance aggression. I found exactly one website that refers to feline sexual aggression as rape.

Sexual aggression among cats is in fact, relatively rare. Unneutered male cats that employ it as a dominance tactic should be neutered without delay. Often the resulting disappearance of testosterone from their systems puts paid to many dominance behaviours.

I once found a tiny white kitten in the street. It´s words deleted by mod as inappropriate for all users on this site and I took it to the vet. According to him, it had been tortured by humans - probably children because I found it near a school. Due to the heavy bleeding, the vet believed it was also injured internally and he put the kitten to sleep.

It´s we humans who are capable of evil, not cats or other animals.

You are abosolutely right about human beings and evil in them..animals are not capable of such things!

You know, it could be that the two accounts (the first vet´s thoughts on the kittens injuries, elleth´s friends account, and the other vet´s take on the injuries, marcatmm´s account, one caused by a cat and the other by humans) leave us without really knowing if it was a cat or a human who harmed the kittens mentioned.

I think we can just say it is a mystery that shows how sad life can be and some cats suffer so for reasons we can never be sure of.

I just am sick to think of humans doing such but if it was a cat, the cat is not to be blamed in the sense that it could have been born with such an over balance of testosterone that it behaved in such an odd manner (the ´chemical balance´ in any creatures body is never the same in one creature to another) and, of course, any cat in that over balanced state of chemical make-up had no conscious understanding of its behavior (which, of course, would be the case anyway.....cats do not plan as humans do to do unkind things). Any cat is at the mercy of its genes and chemical make-up and with that in mind, the mystery of those kittens injuries are just that....mysteries unless one witnessed who the perpetrator was, human or animal. How sad life can be for some........so, I follow the thought of ´spread as many moments of joy as you can in all situations you encounter´ to combate all the sadness we see.......

I´m inclined to believe that a person did this to the kitten rather than another cat. Even in dominance fights, actual words deleted by mod as inappropriate for all users on this site (forgive my directness) is unlikely as a male cat doesn´t usuallywords deleted by mod as inappropriate for all users on this site unless in the presence of a female in heat. (Again, forgive my directness, I don´t know any other way to express this.)

The reason I think it may have been a person is that I once knew someone words deleted by mod as inappropriate for all users on this site. I went and told my Mom about it, and she called the police. (No lie. She knew how upset I was.) I do believe the young man got in quite a bit of trouble over it - I know one of the cops took the cat away from him and kept it.

Some people are just crazy, why would he want to knowwords deleted by mod as no longer applicable due to editing

I fully agree marcatmm. I too am saddened to hear of yuong animals who have known only pain and suffering in their short lives. We can all only hope that these poor beings go to happier places after their lives are over. I certainly hope my sister, who was just a kitten when she was run over, has found a comfortable corner of heaven, where she´ll be safe from the atrocity of cars for all eternity.

I was neutered at a young age, as my owners are very responsible, so, fortunately, I can say that I have never indulged in such atrocious acts myself. I´ve even befriended a stray kitten, who often steals food from my bowl. My owners were upset by this at first, but soon came to pity and accept the kit.

That´s right, Glitter. Knowledge is power. By being made aware of the problem, we can find a solution. In this case the solution is to neuter tom cats, to reduce their testosterone levels, so they don´t feel the need to do such a thing. With solutions comes improvement. Let´s hope that no more kittens will have to suffer.
