Hi. I´ve posted this on the UD site, Huckleberry, a lovely chocolate lab who used to be a client of mine, has been stolen from outside a bakery here in Toronto. His owner has posted a 15000 cdn reward for his return. As most of UD and UC users are not in Toronto I figured I would just ask you take a minute and send some thoughts into the universe towards his safe return. He´s a great boy and all of our local dogpark friends are involved in the search and hopefully we will get him returned to his dad.

Have you put fliers and poster up? If someone found him and saw them they’d be sure to return him, is he chipped?

We have postered, the story is in the print media and now on the tv news as well. The owner has offered a 15ooo dollar reward and we have mobilized all the local dog owners in a search. He is microchipped and the chip company has been notified and has put out a stolen dog alert to all it´s veterinarians. Kat, the dog went missing on Yonge street near Rosedale subway station (midtown), but whoever took him could be anywhere. He is 3 years old, a very Tall chocolate lab and has a very thin sliver of white on his chest. We´re hoping with the media blitz someone somewhere will come out with some info. Huck is a great dog, I´ve known him since a puppy and his owner is devastated. Thanks for putting the word out for us!

Very! All the dog park crew are going to get together later today in the park to celebrate Huck´s return. So glad to get a happy ending...boy did I cry with relief when I heard. We had 50 people mobilized over the last two days and that just reinforced how lucky we all are to have such caring people in our neighbourhood.
Thanks for all the good thoughts you lovely cat people!!

Spaceman, it was Huckleberry - two guys are facing charges for taking him. One of them tried to return Huck in order to collect the reward. To Huck´s owners...All us pet lovers are very glad to hear that Huckleberry has been returned to you safely!

Just saw this posting and WOW, so happy that Huck has been returned. Stupid move to try and claim the reward but great that the dognapper was that stupid.

20.February 2008 21:34

The dognapper may have been stupid, but the dogwalker was not only stupid but grossly negligent and hopefully will have her license revoked. A dogwalker isn´t paid to look after a dog and then leave it tied outside while she goes off to amuse herself.

21.February 2008 00:11

Two of the culprits have been charged and two young offenders are being sought. Bert (Huck´s owner) got his reward back as well. It´s been a real soap opera. As for the dogwalker, I know her and she is usually very responsible, Huck was securely fastened outside and she was only inside 3 minutes or so. This is not an excuse for her as obviously it was bad judgement, but we have all done stupid things in our lives. Well, at least I have..lol. Huck´s owner actually spoke about it in an interview and said the walker was devastated that it happened and that he no longer blamed her.
That being said....NEVER leave your animal unattended, or god forbid, your children. It only takes moments for someone to take them, and years for you to regret it.
Peace
Maggi

I so glad to hear the good news of Huck´s return.

22.February 2008 17:44

A total of four people have been charged in Huck´s dognapping. The two young offenders turned themselves in. The reward "ransom" has been returned to Huck´s owner. The dognappers have several charges against them. We´ll see how it pans out.
