I don´t know if there are vets here that pro-rate their services for low income families, but certainly the cost of care varies from clinic to clinic. If you´re looking in your specific area, it might be worth calling clinics, asking what their standard charges are, and asking if they´re willing to pro rate services for lower income households. Most clinics will also work out payment plans. It might also be worth calling the local shelter (here it would be the Humane Society) and asking if they offer veterinary services at cost, or can direct people to partner clinics. Vets do what they do for the love of animals. It should be possible by doing a little local research to find someone that will help lower income families and their beloved pets.

I think that low-income senior citizens can get reduced costs on pet supplies at some humane societies.

I also found a website that lists low cost or free spay/neuter facilities by state.

Oh, and I´d also check out vet school students at your local college. I had a friend who went through veterinary school, and they spayed/neutered, gave check-ups, shots, etc for very cheap. (Like people in beauty college will give you cheap hair cuts.) My friend was supervised so I´m sure the animals were well cared for.

I know in Canada where Im from if you are low income you can get a form from the local SPCA and get a discount to get your cats fixed. In the previous town I lived in I got two female cats fixed for $20.00 total. They only allow 2 cats per household. I paid full price to get my male fixed but it was under $90.00

There is a FREE place where you can get your cats fixed. They also have other things! ITS ALL FREE!! I have no information about it. But when my mom gets home, i will ask her about it. and post it on here asap!!!

I found this online this morning:
http://www.earthclinic.com/Pets/conjunctivitis.html

It has natural remedies and treatments as well as comments from people who belong to their cats
