So i took my cat Buffy, a long haired cat, to the vet today, and she as some wax buildup in her ears and a bit of tartar on her teeth. I would like to have her groomed... just a brush out, teeth and ear cleaning, and hygiene cut (where they trim the hair around her bum so poo doesn´t end up getting stuck there and then ending up in weird places around the house). She won´t let me or anyone in the family go near her with any kind of grooming supplies... I figure a groomer who specializes in cats would be the best at this. Does anyone know what such services should cost? I want to know an estimated good price from other cat owners before I start calling around. Prices in US $ would be appreciated as I have no idea what the conversion rates are these days. Thanks in advance!

Sorry, can´t help you much with the prices as I live in Spain. I can tell you that my vet cleans my cats ears when we visit for the yearly vaccinations as a part of the rutine. Also, I tend to clean their ears myself as well with the same tool as for humans. Of course my cats are used to it. When it comes to teeth cleaning, it needs to be done at the vet and they put the cat to sleep for short period of time as it is not possible to do it while they are awake. I try to clean the teeth a bit with my finger just by scratching a bit but honestly it does not do much. I can recommend to use cat food that helps control tartar build up. I use it and my cats have almost none of build up and they are 5 years old.

I live in Atlantic City New Jersey, we have a pet motel that grooms cats, shampoos , conditioners and cut nails ,at the cost of $40 per cat , Plus the cost of the conditioner, I do not get around to good. So, this place, picks up, and delivers them to me, at a additional price of $10 per cat. All told, with tax and all it costs me about a little over $110. Of course, only certain groomers will work on cats. I hope this will help you
(You know, it does not cost anything to call and ask the groomer, how much it´ll cost you over the phone)
