How can that happen? they should test the cats before killing them!!! what kind of values are they teaching to their kids... I read that a teacher killed cats in front of her students with a stick!!! just got me so disgusted!!!

Of course I already signed the petition

24.April 2008 05:55

Yeah the government is spreading the untrue rumour that cats carry SARS so people will be frightened (nothing seems to scare the Chinese more than SARS!) and kill the animals. It´s sick and must be stopped. I also just wrote to my local paper and encourage you all to do the same. This is being well hidden from the public!

thank you for bringing this to our attention. I signed. Teri

Just signed the petition and forwarded it to more friends! thanx!!!!
let´s stop this massacre!

I sent this to my local paper - if anyone wants to copy the words and send it to their local paper they are very welcome to.

Something very disturbing has recently been brought to my attention. I´m sure we´re all very aware of the human-rights abuses that occur in China, and the violence and controversy surrounding issues in Tibet. But something that isn´t getting any time in the media is the massacre of cats and dogs going on in China as we speak. To keep up this Truman Show-esque facade that the Beijing Olympics organisers are trying to create, they have been rounding up cats and dogs and putting them in tiny cages where they are left to die. All this to create a ´clean´ image of China, with no cats and dogs on the street. The Chinese media is keeping quiet on this atrocious activity while the Chinese government gets involved by spreading rumours, that cats carry SARS, to justify the mass killings taking place. The paranoia is so great that teachers at an elementary school beat three cats to death with sticks in front of the children. I´m outraged by these actions, this does not mean the human-rights atrocities aspect upsets me any less, but we also need to focus on those who cannot speak for themselves. The massacre of cats and dogs to keep Chinese streets artificially clean must stop, and must stop now.

24.April 2008 07:53

Something is deffinity wrong with someone in China, it just seems like they don´t have any understanding of cruelty. If it were that bad they should just cancel the games, afterall it is 4 peoples safety. I´m not yet an adult so i´ll have 2 check with my parents 2 c. I´ll send it on 2 a moderator who might b able 2 send it around the site!!

24.April 2008 07:58

Shikuro - the worst thing is it´s a lie - cats don´t carry SARS or anything like it. They´re making it up so people think it´s okay for them to kill so many cats.

The people in China is SO SICK!!! Shame on you, China! Thank you for telling us, Wahlah. I signed and I am going to copy your words to spread to all the people I know, regardless they have cats or not. I am not going to be silent on this issue as this is not the first time I learn about China is abusing animals (before it is fur trade)!!! They can´t even handle the animals in a good way IF THEY REALLY CAUSE ANY DISEASE.

This is cruelty, this is a lie. Don´t you think you have the right to kill these cats because they can´t speak! Shame on you, China!

I can´t imagine if my Fabio is living in China and he might be hit to death with a stick...

I too signed the petition, but I think it´s important not to condemn the Chinese people as a whole - most of it´s citizens live in fear of a retribution from a repressive government. Those of us who were born and raised in democratic countries are fortunate - if the cats and dogs are suffering there, what must the people have to endure? Perhaps the decision to host the Olympic Games in Beijing will focus the worlds attention on the Chinese government´s appalling human (and animal) rights record. Maybe some good will come of this tragic and heartwrenching situation.
