i had recently lost a cat due to chronic renal failure, it as the most heartbreaking thing to me, my scruff was my world. He had come to me as a stray and he was already well into his adulthood but terribly unhealthy! i managed to nurse him back to health and he had a well lived 2 years with me before he died... i realized he was sick and regularly took him to the vet but it happened so quickly! i remember coming home with my mum nursing him in tears, i couldnt stop crying for days!! It hurts me to think he was in pain but im happy hes in heaven now probably getting up to more mischief!!

Its only now that its happened and ive done some research that ive realised that this is a common occurance with alot of cats and my sympathy goes out to all of those to have lost a pet from Kidney disease. Pleae read up on it and take the neccesary precautions because it can happen so quick and to a cats out there stay healthy!

After loosing 3 of my babies with kidney disease I know your pain, but yes I’m sure that they are getting up to los of mischief and no more pain. Years back we adopted two cats and they had a beautiful litter of 4 we unfortunately did not know that both mommy and daddy had the disease. The two little girls out of the litter also got it and they were quite a bit smaller then the rest. We have always tried to feed a varity of yummy food and then stated noticing that our Daddy cat would drink water and immediately go to the sandbox also one of the little girls. We took them to the vet and got the horrible news, Cleo (daddy cat) they told us that even with medication he will be in pain and lose even more wait and become to weak to do anything, we had him on a drip for more then a week but no improvement. It was a incredibly sad day but we knew that he will have no pain anymore and be happy playing under the big rainbow in the sky. With Freddie (our little girl) we had the same not even a month after her dad. We were happy to at least still have our four bundles of joy. A year later we saw that mommy cat Jessie was starting to loose wait and constantly wanted water and her box, we rushed her to the dr. And she was also under close observation and drips for 4 day until they phoned us with the horrible news. We adjusted their diets to low protein and daily medication. Gismo our other little girl had to go in for regular checks and constant medication. Lots of prayers later she is still a bundle of joy sharing the house with her two brothers. Luckily with the friendly help of our vet constant checkups and the correct diet all of them seem to be doing well on the great age of 9 years and in a month 10 years. People read up on all the signs and rather be safe then sorry. If you note any excessive water drinking and cat box using take your babies to the vet and let them get the proper medication.
R.I.P. Cleo, Jessie and Freddie and know you will always be loved and missed.
