Hello everyone! I have just one concern. Mimmi is not gaining weight! I´ve tried everything under the moon to get her to gain weight. I´ve started giving her wet food along with her dry food, just like the vet instructed me to do. She has already been tested for every kitty disease and has came out negative for everything. I´m really concern and I don´t want her to get sick on me. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do to make her gain just a little weight? Thank you!

Milly, I am having the same prob with my cat Duckie. I have tried many things also. Did she used to eat before she stopped? Or has she just ate a lil the whole time? If she used to eat like a pig, she may be maybe mad, sad, maybe. I dont really know. I have the same prob, last time she ate like a pig is when Stormy was alive, after that she ate for maybe another week then just stopped eating alot and lost alot of weight. I am guessing it was a loss. But then again it has been 1 year i think that he crossed the rainbow bridge, and she is still this way!!! She ate kinda good before Chewie came along. Then she stopped eating a bit. She lost more pounds. ut i have seen that Chewie seems to not like SHARING! and eats her food then eats his! I have tryed to stop it a million times but he doesnt budge! Maybe if you have another cat, then maybe they are not sharing food. But, I have nothing that you can try. I have tryed alot! And no improvement! If you find the cure, PLZ TELL ME!!!! I want my baby sis, to eat!The only thing diff today is that this morning.. she ate a whole can of fancy feast something. have you tried everything, like Tempatations. Its the ONLY thing that Duckie justed to eat. But she doesnt eat it as much now!

I am so Sorry! I wish i could help. But I seem to be having the same prob. Keep in touch. I know what it feels like. I have been afraid for a year that she will get so ill, that she wont make it. If i think of anything, that worked for Duckie for like 1 day. I´ll tell you.

`Update`
I have just thought of something, when petrey was at home with us, we had to try baby food and some dry food, Well Duckie LOVED the baby food. Get your cats fav. Food flavor and try some baby food! I didnt think of that until now. JUST DONT TRY IT YOURSELF! IT TASTE HORRIBLE!! i am a real flavor tester! I ate it and yuck!!!!!!!! But Duckie tryed and ate it. So maybe it will work for you!! Good Luck!!!

Sorry I have to go get Chewie off the bird cage now. See ya later!

I dont have any ideas, but boots and mr are from the same litter. Mr is about 14 pounds and normal size. boots is just over 4 and everything about her is mini. she is the size of a kitten. The vet said she is just petite. I was very worried because she is so tiny, but I guess seh is ok. Maybe your cat is just a tiny cat. I am sure she is ok. keep us informed on your baby.

I was as worried as you for my Romeo cat. 2 years and a few months, of race Maine Coon, I had concern because ihis weighs only 4,5 with 5kg. Moreover, having had a rather worrying medical liability, I was always persuaded that something did not go.
I brought Romeo on several occasions to the vet, I tested several types of food…
In fact, the morphology of Romeo is like this. It is thin but muscular. He eats with his hunger.
Roméo receives a stable food and when I feel that he is “tired” (periods of heats or hot days like now), I give him vitamins.

Hi Milly,

What did the vet say? If not gaining weight does not affect Mimmi´s health, you shouldn´t be worried too much especially you have taken her to go through various health tests. Perhaps you can try to observe Mimmi´s daily routine - To make sure she is active, eats enough, rests well, pass out, and no sign of depression.

Maybe it is silly to say so but I have not been gaining weight for years. Even if I do, it is like 1kg a year. However, I am a very healthy person Please keep us posted on Mimmi´s progress ya.

Cheers.

I agree with teri and micini about Mimmi being a naturally small cat. If she is eating plenty, but just not gaining weight, she could just be an active cat and plays the weight off. If she isn´t eating the food you give her, you might try getting different flavors or a different brand. Kitties have their preferences just like humans

I have, or better had, same problem with Cica. Used to throw away cat-food ´cause she ate so lil. But now I don´t worry anymore, she knows best how much to eat. That´s just the way she is, I had to accept the fact she´ll never be Garfield. How would I feel if my mom tried to blump me? Hmmmmmmm.............You will eventually find the right food for her( Cica only eats whiskas duck, nothing else). Good luck

I have no idea of this, but you must confess that my cat Pelusa, she sometimes a little weight, and then there is more thin when entering the stage of jealousy, it may be that what happens to your Gatica. Anyway, try another veterinarian, it is sometimes better to have various views on this matter

Tigger is also not a fat cat. He and his brother Felix came to us together at the age of 3 months and Felix was always so much bigger that Tigger. At first I was so scared that there was something wrong with him. But he’s now 10 years old, and has always been on the lean side, and also does not eat a lot at a time – prefers to nibble. I give him one sachet of cat food in the evening and it takes him sometimes a couple of hours to finish it. I then give as much dry food as he wants on demand during the day. He has got a lot of energy and is very healthy with a nice coat and bright eyes. So some cats are just more skinny.

Hi Mimzy! Is Mimmi interested in say, a moving ball or a string? Is she sleeping comfotably? Is her appetite good? Is she peeing and pooping regularly? If you had answered yes to all of these, I say Mimmi is one healthy slim cat. Like humans, they come in all shapes and sizes.
