The Austinmere vets are great. They are so understanding and helpful. They were especially kind when we had to let one of our cats go. They even came to our house. i would recommend them to anyone

I have a great vet too. They have been our vets for the last 6 years. When I had to put my 18yo cat, Jess, to sleep the vet even shed a tear with us. Vets are such an important part of our cats lives. Once you find a good one, stick to them like glue!

Wow Furrypaws my cat Micio is 18. We had to put down our other cat at about 17-18 were not quite sure, cause she had sun cancer. Our vet sent us a condolences card. Do you know anywhere on this site where i can send a virtual one to a friend.

Shikuro, no I don´t know off hand, but I´ll have a bit of a look later. Yeah my vet sent a card too. And when I had to put my dog Ben to sleep last month they sent me a huge bunch of flowers. Just think 18 is well over a hundred in cat years. No wonder they insist on things their way. He he.

At the risk of sounding totally ignorant which of course I am what is an Austinmere vet? I have a great vet but not sure what this is.

I was just thinking about our vet. I live alone in Prague and although have always had animals and cats around me there was always a cousin, brother or uncle who had some knowledge about their welfare. Well when I got Zvonek it was awesome that he was totally mine and dauting that I was completely responsible for him. Having being brought up that to have an animal is an awesome responsibilty to begin with. The animals food was always taken care first in our house when buying grocies. My Mom believed that you invited them in and therefore it was your responsibility. So when Zvonek arrived (at my invitation) I was a little dauted. But I have to say I the most amazing vet. He is extremely caring and very tolerant. I used call (and still do on occasion) with all sorts of little things and he was already ready with a full explanantion for me. As I am the only foreigner I really appreaciate having a vet who not only speaks English but worries about my cats health.

A good vet is worth their weight in gold. When my dog Ben was ill I was calling them about 3 times a day. They never got cranky and always answered me.

I am the same, rent first, pet food second and then my food. Infact I spend nearly 60% of my grocery budget on food for the four legged ones. Well there are six of them, and only one of me!

Same here - rent first, so we´ll have a place to live, then food and litter and such for Mugs, then food for me. And if for some reason I can´t afford different food for both of us, I´ll start buying food that both of us can eat. And if that falls through, if there´s a real financial crisis and I´m living in my car, I´ll move Mugger to my brother´s house (I suppose I could live there, too) so Mugger will ALWAYS be taken care of.

After reading so many sad begining in some of the cats profiles it does my heart to there are people like us out there.

I agree. One of the reasons I love this site!

One of our lady vets that looks after Mish now and neffer previously. Is whenever Neffer threw one of her temper tantrums and bit her. She was willing to forgive and forget. RIP Neffer

When I had to put down Tikka, my old siamese cat, our vet sent a condolence card that everyone in the clinic signed. A couple of dozen people signed it - every vet, tech and receptionist. They´ve taken great care of Sophie (and my foster cats) for me since. If you´re looking for a vet in Edmonton, Alberta, try Crestwood Veterinary Centre on 149 St.

it is very impotant 2 take care of our cats afterall 4 people like me Mish is the cclosest thing i have to a human sister, she´s always been there 4 me. sure she can´t draw pictures or write poems but she makes up 4 all that in personality! The only thing i don´t like about cats is the fact that they dies so young. Mish won´t ever get 2 b an auntie!!!!

Last year I went through a bad time where I had no food, but I scraped together money for cat food. I did not want them to suffer and I could go to the food bank and had friends that fed me but they did not have cats. they are my responsibility so I had to feed them first. they totally depend on me to eat.

14.February 2008 04:03

wolfie. I would not let you sleep in your car, I would come and get you and mugger. I could get there in 4 days,

Teri, that´s so sweet!

My vet is in mossvale and each time we take in one of the gang he clips there nails (no charge) pats them and talks to them and is very cheap.
The best vet i have ever been too (and believe me i have tried lots!)

13.April 2008 14:22

Recently my vet has given us $2 off everyday Mish stays there during the next long holiday cause she is soooo old.

Don´t tell her i said that (she might hurt me)

We are in happy vet country, north of Brisbane. The fabulous, well-to-do vet clinic has 5 famous vets and as many vet nurses, and you receive nothing but the finest of care there.

But we go to Gary, who is a large animal vet, but with the softest heart of gold. He will come to your house if need be, and let you settle bill later if need be (I´m sure he has limits on that, but I´ve heard more about vets like that here in Australia - payment plans, etc., than I ever heard in the USA!)

So unless we were going to keep Connor (which we didn´t do - and if we had we were going to move him to the upscale vet in hopes of finding fancy solutions to his problems) or Piper develops some weird thingy that Gary cannot handle - we´ll be going to him for at least the rest of Piper´s life!

It takes a special soul to go the long hard miles for veterinary medicine! Harder than people medicine, and no insurance checks! (or few)
