My vet told me this morning that I have to work on getting my cat Molly to eat. He thinks she has some kind of infection. We´re giving her antibiotic, but this not-eating business is getting serious.

She ignores three different kinds (including her former favorite) of dry cat food, and turns up her nose at canned food. The vet gave her an appetite stimulant and suggested suggested baby food, but does anyone else have any other suggestions?

When Ramcey had some stomach and intestine problems in the past, he refused to eat. A vet told me to boil rice and add a special kind of can for diarrhoea and feed him by force. It was hard but I stuffed his mouth with small bits of food and then held his mouth tightly closed until he swallowed. He cept crying. A very unpleasant situation, but if the cat´s got to eat, it´s got to eat. After 2-3 days, Ramcey was fine. I´d do it again if I had to.

No matter how ill Babie was she would always eat Tuna...maybe try that

Have you tried hand feeding? Cats will ofter eat food held in your hand. Something with a strong smell would probably be best. Some kind of fish mashed up perhaps?

I have had the same problem with mimmi after Tux had died. She refused to eat, I tried everything, then my mom said try giving her scrambled egg with butter. I scrambled 1 egg and added a little bit of milk and after it was cooked you add a tsp of butter. then just mix it. Mimmi loved it! after a couple of days she started eating her normal kitty food. also like many had suggested, force feed; I have never had to do that with a cat. Only with a dog. also try milk thats made for cats and kittens.
