What should every Uniteddogs and Unitedcats’ user know and follow
1.Scurillity and vituperation is forbidden. Also through Doggie-mail or Cat-mail
2. Dog and/or Cat owner can have only one account. The same username applies for both uniteddogs.com and unitedcats.com sites
3. Every dog and cat deserves to have separate profiles. If you have 3 dogs and 2 cats, then make 5 profiles.
4. Before you insert new post in the forum, please check if you put it under right thread
5. Don’t start new threads where they don´t belong
6. We all love simplicity – use reasonable language and insert punctuation marks where necessary. We have international site, if you use correct language then those who don’t know some words can use dictionaries to translate them – but it is necessary that the words are written correctly.
7. Don’t use only caps
8. Don’t use too many emoticons. Four emoticons in a row are not better then one!
9. If you start a new thread, give it proper title. This should be informative and give other users idea what the thread is about. Title should not contain a web-address!
10. Before you write a new post, think if this is something that other users want to read. Remember that other users will see you the way you present yourself.
11. Direct publicity is forbidden. Ask before starting a thread like that!
12. Don’t upload unsuitable photos:
a. Can’t find the correct animal from the picture
b. Too blurry picture, the appearance of the animal is hard to detect
c. Just a small part of the animal.
d. Pictures of your animals genitals

13. Following rules is obligatory for every user. In addition to written rules we ask common politeness, kindness and practical communication.
14. Before you start a new thread make sure if there is no other similar thread already. If there is, write your post under the old thread.
15. If you have checked there is no other similar thread, open a new thread and write simple and understandable title.
16. If you have opened a new thread don’t thank every user that posts in there. Posts like “thanks” (several times) or “ahha”, “yeee, I do”, “super” etc will be deleted and some bonuspoints will be taken from your account. Politeness should be used with practical approach.
17. Patting the dogs and giving virtual gifts is voluntary. Asking for pats, votes or gifts is not allowed. We all love dogs and/cats. The gifts and pats made from the heart are the sweetest and most precious. The ones who send out doggie-mail/cat-mail, write posts in the forum asking for pats or gifts will get warning from us.
18. Becoming buddies with another cat is also voluntary and the reason behind it should never be just getting points, but actually getting to know each other

Some advice
1. You can change your post. This way you can correct the spelling mistakes or add some new data or ideas that you forgot at first (so you don’t have to make several posts).
2. If you have written down some facts then please insert link, especially when other interested user asks for it

PS: The rules of the forum will be complemented according our users suggestions and ideas from our moderators.
If you have any suggestions, tell a moderator about it

Thankyou zuzlik for this VERY important information, hopefully every user here will follow it. I think we should also be alot more careful when it comes to some users adding ´fake´ pictures and fake profiles of their cat, that seems to be the major problem at the moment.

22.February 2008 11:11

Very good. It was needed!

22.February 2008 13:48

i will take note of it,thanks for reminding us!

22.February 2008 16:56

Thank you Zuzlik, I can already think of some users who need to read the rules... if they ever, ever read anything on the forum that is. Most of the people who like to violate these rules, unfortunately, only care about their own popularity, and never come to visit the forum.

22.February 2008 19:43

Thanks Zuzlik. I also hope that everyone follows the rules. I honestly have not come across anyone that has violated the rules yet as everyone is having such a great time with their kitties.

Personally, I have enjoyed the exchanges in foreign languages. It is amazing to be able to talk to people from all over the world about their cats.

There has been some concern expressed over "fake" profiles but that is all.

Thanks Zuzlik!! I would add to the rules under #12 Don´t Upload unsuitable photos, that that also include only upload actual photos of YOUR OWN pet. A tiger and or another person´s cat is not appropriate/suitable. (Cat charactures, logos, graphics is okay.) Now that we all know the rules we should all work together to enforce them to make this an even better site than it already is!!

The rules are great!! Thank you, Zuzlik, for clarifying some points. But I´ve noticed a problem. Not long after they were posted, they got bumped off the forum topics on the home page and disappeared. Is there some place to post them so that they can always be seen by everyone, especially new users? Some of the rules seem appropriate for inclusion in Terms of Service - but in reality, who reads the Terms? I´m guilty of not reading them when I joined and I don´t think I´m the only one

26.February 2008 12:56

Okay, note taken! Thanks United Cats

26.February 2008 21:11

Rules will be abided by at this end. Thank you for the information.

Jessiemog - I´ve never seen anyone here complain about another´s spelling or grammar. None of us are perfect typists! Don´t worry about it!

27.February 2008 05:54

Yeah, Jessiemog, I think the point was that if you realize you made a mistake and want to fix it you can go back in (for a short time) and edit it and or add to it.

27.February 2008 05:55

even if your spelling/grammar is bad---nobody complains. you will be fine jessiemog. nobody should complain and i don´t think the mods are really referencing that type of stuff. you´ll be ok

27.February 2008 06:58

Hi there thanks for the information i will abide by everything don´t want to upset anyone

27.February 2008 23:25

Englishmuffin, I think sometimes people sort of get over-upset about things. That happens a lot on the Internet, it´s like since we´re not physically face to face, it´s hard to tell how angry someone really is, and it´s very easy to misinterpret things. I don´t see much point in getting upset over anything that happens on the Internet. I´m more concerned about things which happen in my apartment!

27.February 2008 23:26

Sometimes you need things spelt out these days because it is SO HARD to please everyone!

27.February 2008 23:55

Tegan, you can never please everyone. It´s impossible. There are people in this world who work very hard to make sure they´re never pleased with anyone else. The best you can do is ignore people like that!

I don´t know if "pleasing everyone" is the right thing to say here. I don´t think the rules are set to try to please everyone, but instead, to prevent people from misusing the site. It´s good to be respectful to people who share this community, and be considerate. We don´t have to "please", but simply not to "upset". For example, we don´t like to see multiple threads discussing the same topic because it becomes hard to follow, and things get repeated and people waste time reading them again. It´s also not very respectful to use someone else´s photos without permission. It simply is, no matter how little it means and it could be a totally harmless intention to start with, but there´s copy right for a reason. For all I know, I don´t want to be the one whose photos are stolen by other users. I guess I don´t take very good photos so they´re not likely to run into such problems.

I have a question regarding rules for this site. It´s come up in a couple of different threads that you may only post photos and bios of cats that belong to you. I have posted photos and written bios for cats that I have fostered that have enriched my life but no longer belong to me. I remember them all with love and feel a bit of them lives on in my life and have accepted pats and buddies for them. If any of my previous foster cats turn up on this site I would immediately delete the bio I created. I did not post their info with any intent to deceive people, but because I thought this community would be interested in seeing and hearing about them. Please advise me, should I delete their bios and remove their photos?

28.February 2008 05:23

Oh Michy, I certainly hope the answer to that question won´t be "yes, delete"!!! Your situation is totally different from someone "borrowing" a photo to deceive or to be a smart aleck.
