Looking for soft sided cat carrier

I have been thinking in the event of a fire (shudder) that I need to have my pet carriers in order, not all over the house. The hard plastic ones cannot store easily in our bedroom so had a brain wave that the soft sided carriers would be great until I priced them yesterday. They look like a Paris Hilton Frou Frou bag for a dog and range from $49 -$69. While they have glitz I don´t need all that so does anyone know of where I can get 3 soft sided carriers, one for a large cat and 2 for medium sized? I am in Canada but could travel to the USA as am only 3 hrs from border crossings. Has anyone else had this idea as a quick access to protecting their pets and escaping with them if there is a house fire?

Should have googled before I posted I guess but I just saw the exact thing I am looking on QVC for on $28. Can´t ship to Canada. Any thoughts anyone where I can get similar?

Saucykats, I just went to www.ebay.ca, searched under "pet carrier" and came up with this link. There seem to be hundreds, starting around $20. Most of the sellers seem to be in the US, but shipping to Canada shouldn´t be a problem - make sure to ask about customs charges though. I didn´t go through the whole list either and they may be some Canadian sellers there.

Alternatively, if you can sew or know someone who does, you could buy a second hand gym bag , cut out the sides and stitch in some heavy mesh material. A gym bag standing by with pet emergency supplies might be a good idea too (food, litter, bottled water, etc). I think the soft sided carriers for emergencies are a great idea. I was in Banff several years ago during the summer of fires and had two hard sided carriers stationed at my front door for emergency evacuation - soft sided ones would have been sensible.

I bought mine online and it was very cheap, only $20 AUS.
Its soft all over and now i even leave it under my bed for Peanut to go into if he wants. I got mine off E-Bay - its a store for pets - http://stores.ebay.com.au/PET-STATION-PET-PRODUCTS - is the link. They are located in Australia, but im sure they could ship to you.
Hope that helps as they have a HUGE range.
