Do your cats have names or nicknames in your own languages? What are they, and what does it mean?

My Oliver has a series of nicknames, many of them in Italian. Some of them are

Pancetta = means Italian bacon, also an affectionate way of calling "tummy", the word coming from la "pancia".

Sancho Pancia = pancia means "tummy", with the typical Roman dialect it could be pronounced just like the name of the famous sidekick of Don Quixote.

Ciccio = coming from "ciccia", literally means meat, or fat, figuratively an italian equivalent of "pudge".

pupazzo, or peluche = meaning plush toy, doll, "teddy cat", because he is so soft to touch.

Panna = means cream, as his white part has a real yummy cream like warm shade.

I had no idea that "Gianfico" means Mr. Cool on Italian, until LianOllie told me so lol
I just came to an idea to call him like that.

7.July 2008 21:45

It is actually a real loose translation about "Mr." There are many Italian names which are a combination of two names, usually starting with "Gian" (comming from "Gianni", one of the very common names), such as Gianluca, Gianluigi, Gianfranco, Giancarlo etc. etc. And "Fico" is an exact equivalent of "Cool" in Italian, I just thought it was an awesome combination, very Italian too, fit for such a cool boy like him!!
