How did you come up with a name for your Birman?

My Buddha got his name because of his gentle and friendly nature. But also because he was a very big bellied baby boy. So Buddha was a perfect name for him
His complete name is: Gift of Magosha´s Buddha Bruce

My Bonny got his name in honour of my previous siamese cat who had died before I got Bonny. But he is so lovely and friendly that this name perfectly suits him.

My Birman was initially called Ted but when I adopted him I renamed him Viscount. However, this gets shortened to Viz. Viscount is an aristocratic name but Viz holds himself like Royalty and gets treated as such so this was very appropriate for him.

I did not come up with her name, she did, China was the only thing which popped into my head when I first saw her. Obviously she must have told me her name telepathically. She is like very fine china. I call her ´My China, My China Belle´ as she has a sweet, soft, chime like voice, also we live in the south.

Just before we adopted DEEjay..my beloved father inlaw passed away,we decided to use Dads initials....(Dennis james)..and came up with DEEjay, which really suits him!....we already had Charlotte, she had been a breeding cat,but had difficulty with her pregnancys, she eventually had to be spayed,so the breeder no longer wanted to keep her!..she already had her name, and responded to it...we liked the name too!

Rangoon was born in the year R - all cats (and dogs) with papers born the same year in France have the name beginning with the year´s letter. I wanted to give him a name corresponding with his supposed origin so Rangoon he became.

Oskar III has a different story. His first owner gave him some idiotic name I can´t even write and found out only when I got cat´s papers which was about half a year after he decided to stay with us. And the cat didn´t respond to it anyway, as the guy told us later. So we had a cat without a name and I was expecting a baby. We were discussing baby´s name and when I came to Oskar (we were looking for a Swedish name) my husband protested vehemently and in order to avoid naming the baby so, gave the name to the cat - it´s a royal name - In Sweden there were two kings of that name, that´s why our Oskar bears the numeral III - Oskar himself was pleased with his royal name and responded at once. His first owner, watching him as he run to me when called, couldn´t believe his eyes. While with him, the cat always ignored his calls.
