I´m curious to know how us birman lovers got to own a birman kitty

I bought my Buddha at an official Dutch breeder. He´s a pureblood with a beautiful mum and dad. I still have contact with the breeder so I can ask questions to her about taking care of my beauty

I bought my kitty at a pet shop. When my previous cat suddenly died, I was so miserable and thought that I would never take another cat again. But my friend took me to a pet shop and when I saw Bonny, it was love at first sight.

I visited Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in London, England, after my persian cat, Petal, had passed away with a view to adopting a cat. Battersea told me that they would be grateful if I would take a long haired cat as people usually do not want to take them as they are too much trouble to groom and sweep up after. I would have taken all the cats if I could but I knew I should wait for the appropriate cat to arrive there. I went home and within 2 days of my visit, Battersea contacted me to say a Birman cat had arrived there and would I come and see him quickly. I drove to London with my son, who was 4 years old then, as I had to see how the cat would interact with small children.
Anyhow, when I arrived I was shown to the cage. A member of staff opened it where Viz immediately jumped up to greet me. It was if he knew me all his life! We had an instant bond and the love between us showed. Even the staff were amazed how he had reacted towards me and my son. Viz was 6 years old then (now 14). He was perfect. I couldn´t understand why anyone would want to give Viz away but it was explained to me that he was with a family that was called abroad urgently and were unable to take Viz with them.
I believe Viz was a gift from God and I think Petal must have been looking down from heaven as she knew how much I missed her company and guided me to this beautiful Birman.

We adopted DEEjay when he was 8 weeks old,he came from a breeder in Melbourne,it was so hard to choose one from the litter, they were all soooooo adoreable!....we chose DEEjay because he had a lot of personality,he played with us constantly....and basicly "he" chose us,there was another that was very friendly.........but terribly vocal!...we already had Charlotte who was also "incredibly" vocal........so decided on the quiet one of the two ?????.....well DEEjay has turned out to be more vocal than the other one !! lol....we wouldnt swap him for the world...and love them both to bits!.....Charlotte we adopted from another breeder in Melbourne..........she was a breeding kitty, but had problems with her pregnancys.....so the breeder decided to let her be re homed...she is a wonderful, loyal and devoted to me kitty i love her so much, she is such a companion, has to be with me constantly, doesnt matter where i am,she is "always close by"....so happy the breeder gave her up for adoption

I didn´t get my first Birman - Oskar III - he´d got me! He lived in left hand the flat from me and his owner probably had him just a a status display. Oskar was always left alone, mostly outside. He even didn´t have an appropriate name. He began to visit us when we moved in and after a year of visiting for longer and longer time he just stayed. The owner gave me his papers and accessoirs and didn´t care.
A year later he was astonished to find out that Oskar was a very clever and obedient cat, following me everywhere and coming when called, he never did it while living with him.
That little fact tells something about cat´ self-willed character

After Oskar went over the Rainbow my husband didn´t want anything else but a Birman - bu that time we moved to France and I looked for a kitty by contacting a Birman Association - I was looking for a strong vivacious kitty, capable to put up with a Norwegian Forrest cat -Rangoon was born in Paris, a little rascal from the very beginning and difficult to sell since he partially missed one of the birman socks. I jumped on him right away.

I got Snowy from a breeder of Birman. I wanted a female, but they were to young, so we decided to wait, till they were old enough.
Then the lady said: I still have a male Birman of 16 weeks old, wait I will get him.
When she came back, she put him on my lab, he looked at me, turned on his back and starded to purr. At that moment I was lost. He choose me, that was clear enough.
We took him home with us and we didn´t regret it for a minute.
