I am having a problem with my Lynx Point siamese. He is a 6 1/2 month old male kitten and he has an undesirable bad habit I am at my wits end about! I love him so much I cant think of getting rid of him!

He daily pees on the rugs in the bathroom instead of using the litter box to do his business. He does use the litter box but has to pee on the rugs every day. I have replaced the rugs more times than I care to mention. I have tried to odor neutralizers, I dont know what else to do! Any advice?

Has he been neutered?

It sounds like he is marking out his territory. DO get him neutralized as soon as possible. If it gets habitual before he is neutrerd, he might keep doing it.

Can you remove the rugs in the bathroom entirely? Or put them out of reach when you´re not using them? Can you put a litterbox (temporarily) in the bathroom where he´s been weeing? If you can, you can daily move the litterbox closer and closer to a desirable location. Taking the rugs away may help remove the temptation to wee on them. And as has been mentioned, if he isn´t neutered that could make a difference.

Is the rug covering the chiffon? Sometimes it´s the smell that comes from the sewage that attracts them. Pour some chlorine into it daily and see if there´s any difference. My male cat (who was into the habit of doing it) never peed there after we had changed the pipes in the bathroom.

Oh and remove the rugs as MichyD suggested.
