Introduction
I was adopted from a shelter as a senior cat - 10 years at that time. Nobody wanted me because I was "too old" and had a heart murmur. I´m a beautiful "Vanalike" - long and tall but thin because I´m HyperT. I´m sure I have the fluffiest long orange tail in the whole wide world and I love to strut around with it sticking straight up in the air. My philosophy: if you´ve got it, flaunt it!!
Congratulations on becoming Cat of the Week! How will you celebrate it?
Thanks so much to everyone who voted for me! I´m honoured and delighted to have been chosen from amongst all the beautiful, wonderful cats on the site.
I´m sure my COTW celebration will be like my birthday celebration - at least I hope so. There´s one particular take-out fried chicken that I love. Usually I´m only allowed a small portion, but on my birthday I gorged myself and I look forward to that again. I don´t know what happens to me when I smell this chicken, even before it´s out of the bag. I become a crazed wild creature. My eyes glaze over, I drool, I´m sure my fangs grow and I howl. I WANT IT!! I WANT IT NOW!! I WANT IT ALL!! Phew, sorry - I´ve worked myself into a frenzy just thinking about it. And I know I´ll get plenty of cuddles and lots of those yucky human and cat kisses that I could live without!!
Angie from your family has also been Cat of the Week. What do you think, what makes you too popular in here?
I think that Angie and I are popular because we´re good-looking cats and because of our stories. So many people go to shelters and pass by the senior cats. We seniors have so much love and quiet, sweet companionship to offer. Many of us have suffered through hardships and heartaches in our long lives and want nothing more than to spend our sunset years in safety and comfort and most importantly - knowing love and being able to give love!!
Also, I think a lot of users check out our profiles because our mom is a mod and they see her star all around the site. We have the feeling that we´re a lot more "popular" than she is, though.
What is your greatest passion?
Other than the chicken, my passion is thinking. I even have a degree in philosophy from Idgie University. (If any other cats would like to earn a degree, please have your people contact my people.) I spend a few hours each day in my "sanctum sanctorum". Mom calls it the closet and she and Angie keep peeking in to see if I´m really napping, but I´m not!! There´s some very serious contemplation going on in there on top of the shoes and behind the boxes!!
What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you?
There´s no one particular thing, but I´m always embarrassed when I forget my dignified ways. The "chicken feeding frenzy" is one example. And sometimes I get peeved at that Angie´s constant attention - before I can stop myself, I let her have a few good bops on top of her silly black bean!
Who is the person you respect the most, and why?
I respect my mom so much. She´s given Angie and I a loving home for the rest of our years. She tries to give me space to be myself although I´m sure at times she´d prefer me to be more cuddly. And she worries so much about my health. She thinks we don´t know those daily "kitty massages" are just an excuse to check for bumps and tender spots. But we enjoy the massages anyway!!
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I would change my health. I´m hyper-thyroid and have to take medication every day - not terrible torture but I´d rather not. So far I don´t need an operation, but someday maybe I will. I see how solid and healthy that Angie is and wish my thin body were more like hers. But I´m doing well with my energy and appetite, and I´ll just keep soldiering on!!
What three words would others probably use to describe you?
Serious, cerebral and dignified (humble is not included).
